Not exactly what I was expecting.
When I ordered this iPod I just wanted a pink iPod. When it came it didn’t work, there was something wrong with it. I guess my review is more a review of the seller, The Great iPod Exchange. This company is wonderful to work with. They tried to help me fix the problems but once it looked like it was not fixable, they refunded all of my money, no arguments! This seller was very responsive to my needs as a buyer and I wouldn’t hesitate to buy from them again.

Best Notebook I’ve had and great change from a PC
I must say that this is an excellent notebook. It’s build is solid. I’ve traveled with it around the Chilean Patagonia and had no problems (be sure to have one of those nice silicon cases if it rains!). I’ve been a PC fan for the past 20 years and used Linux as an alternate to windows in many cases. But the MacOSX is really a nice operating system. If your going to spend many hours of your day in front of a computer, you’ll really appreciate the aesthetics and usability of this Mac. The screen is the best I’ve ever seen.

Also, if you still need windows or Linux (you won’t for the majority of apps), you can install Parallels or the excellent, and FREE, VirtualBox. Both work great with Windows and Linux (try Ubuntu).

As a computer scientist I’m seeing many MANY people making the switch from PC to Mac these days. Personally I’ll be sticking to the mac for a long time!

Some downsides on this mac:

- Only 2 usb ports

- They keys quickly get shiny in high usage places and look opaque on others. (not too nice)

- Track pad right-click doesn’t seem to work well sometimes.

(I hear those new large ones that work like the iphone touch screen are pretty awesome though)

If you’re thinking about switching from a PC to this notebook, it’s really a great option. No regrets at all.

Fantastic Computer
Windows Vista was the last straw so I went Mac hunting. I bought a MacBook Pro last May after using windows systems for years and years. Total frustrated by windows lack of processing simple jobs with out locking up and having to ctrl-alt-del or completely restart. The MacBook Pro was a little more than I wanted to spend, but after hours of convincing my wife I made the switch to Mac. It has been the best computer I have ever owned!

It is flawless in booting up and being ready to go.

Easy compatibility with my digital camera I did not even need to install the Kodak software iPhoto reads the pictures just fine and away we go. IMovie makes it just as easy take your video and edit and make really cool movies out of what you have shot on camera or camcorders. The word processing with pages works very well and there are other great free open source word processing programs for Mac like open office.

From ITunes to being able to bluetooth my Cel phone and quickly get all my contacts off address book has been great. My wife has been so impressed she now has a Macbook and we have a Mac mini at home.

Every area of the MacBook Pro has exceeded my expectations.

Display IMac Screens on a Wide Screen Monitor
I do a lot of video editing for a not-for-profit community cable channel. I wanted to display in process production screens on a wide screen HDTV (37″ Sharp Aquos) as I edited the video from my iMAC. Because this adapters output is DVI which the Aquos does not support I decided to install a passive DVI-HDMI adapter and a 15′ HDMI cable. The result is wonderful. The presentation is crisp and clear and the installation was simplicity itself. If you’re looking to display your iMAC screen images on a hi-def monitor or projector than this adapter is highly recommended.

Simple to install, works great!
There was literally no setup for my 1080p Westinghouse HDTV. I connected my DVI cable to the adapter, plugged it into my iMac, and it just popped up as a second desktop (at 1920×1080 automatically).

Like buying a new Mac!
I had a 2006 iMac running Tiger OS and iLife HD. I never really had the desire to upgrade my OS until I changed jobs and the company that I work for now is using Leopard. Time Machine is such a wonderful feature, and best of all, I was able to use it with my external USB drive. No additional drives to buy. Not only that, but after seeing the new features of iLife09, especially iWeb and iMovie, I knew I wanted that software package too. I was amazed to see that you could buy all three bundled for over 40% off the cost of all three! It’s just like I bought an all new iMac for a fraction of the price! Sounds like a infomercial, but it’s true. Installation was simple, and I’m loving the OS and new software. Truly a great deal for us with a computer a few years old, and wanting to breath new life into it.

fast Mac
I had to add more memory for the new software, needs at least 1 gig.It only cost me $32.00 for 2 gig more, now 2.5 gig. Don’t know if it’s the software or memory, but it runs much better now. Worth every penny.

Well worth the price!
I have a 2005 iMac G5 2.0GHz with 1GB RAM. I ordered the MacBoxSet from Amazon last week and received it in only 2 days using free super saver shipping! Installing the updates to OS 10.5 (from 10.4) and iLife 09 were quick, easy, and painless. Those two updates alone are well worth the price of this set, but also getting iWork 09 is a nice bonus. TimeMachine is a great new tool (I also bought an Apple TimeCapsule at the same time as the MacBoxSet and easily set up my first home wifi network for my iPod Touch and someday AppleTV or Netflix Roku).

There have been so many improvements made to the iLife suite over the past few years. The new ‘Faces’ feature in iPhoto 09 is simply amazing! I’m also looking forward to playing around with iWeb (which my old version of iLife did not have), as well as editing my sister’s wedding video in iMovie 09.

I thought I’d need to upgrade to 2GB RAM for good performance, but my old iMac is doing great with just 1GB. This was a very small investment to make to bring my Mac up-to-date, and it allows me to delay spending 10-times as much on a new Mac for another couple of years.

The MacBoxSet is highly recommended!

Both are great. Love the faces feature in iPhoto and the compatability of iWork with Office documents.

Great New Life for Older iMac!
I had already upgraded my memory, and I made the mistake of watching the Keynote address at MacWorld. Oh my. I just HAD to have iLife and iWork!

This package is better priced than at Apple, and everything works as promised. In spite of the learning curve (as I expected), I’m having a blast with the new features, and will be getting a laptop to show off my creations since I work in a Windows shop.

Places to go.
Places allows you to search and sort photos by location, using data from any GPS-enabled camera or iPhone. Dont have a GPS-enabled camera or iPhone? You can still use Places by adding your own location information: Just start typing and iPhoto instantly gives you a list of locations to choose from. Want to add places to lots of photos? Select an Event, an album, or a group of photos shot in the same place, and iPhoto can add your location information to all of them at once.

When you feel like exploring, click Places to navigate your photos by location. Find photos on a map, or use the column browser to click through location names from country to state to city–right down to points of interest like the Empire State Building or the Grand Canyon–to see all the photos taken there.

Events to remember.
iPhoto helps eliminate clutter in your photo library by automatically organizing your photos by Event. When you import photos taken on a single day, iPhoto groups them together as an Event. You can label each Event with a meaningful name like Karens wedding or Nathans graduation, so you can find everything easily.

The search field in iPhoto lets you search your entire photo library fast. Type a word or part of a word to search by person, location, title, album, event, or keyword, and see your results in an instant.

Make some improvements.

Turn so-so snapshots into great photos.
iPhoto gives you everything you need to fix your photos. Remove red-eye with a click. Adjust exposure, brightness, and contrast. Crop to frame your subject. If you dont know where to begin, click the Enhance tool and watch iPhoto automatically fix bright or dull photos. Then try a few new tricks.

If you want to make the colors in your photos pop without affecting skin tones, use the Saturation slider and click Avoid saturating skin tones. To improve clarity and enhance detail, experiment with the Definition slider. Or retouch over solid edges with the Retouch brush. Its new Detect Edges setting prevents blurring of detail as you paint out spots and blemishes.

Experiment with effects.
iPhoto also features fun, one-click photo effects. Open the Effects pane and click a thumbnail image to convert color photos to black and white, give them a classic sepia tone, add a vignette border, and more. Experiment without fear: A click of the center thumbnail removes effects and returns your photo to its original state. In fact, any edit you make in iPhoto is reversible, so you dont have to worry about losing your originals.

Enjoy a few choice memories.
Looking for a fun way to share and enjoy your photos? Try creating a slideshow using new slideshow themes. Each theme includes professionally designed layouts, titles, and transitions that make a perfect backdrop for your photos. Click a theme to play a full-screen slideshow–accompanied by any song from your iTunes library. Fast-forward or rewind your slideshow using the new filmstrip. If you like, customize your slideshow even further by saving it as a project. Then you can reorder photos, set the length of time individual photos remain onscreen, or, with some themes, choose different transitions. And when youre happy with your slideshow, send it to iTunes and sync it to your iPhone or iPod to enjoy anywhere.

Great suite of products - not many major changes but iMovie & iPhoto have definitely been improved!

iPhoto is awesome.
I’ve only really used iPhoto since I’ve upgraded. iPhoto alone is worth the upgrade. The Faces tool is awesome. It did a great job of recognizing people in the photos. I haven’t used Places as much but it’s also a pretty neat tool. I’ve never used GarageBand or iWeb (before or after the upgraded). I haven’t played around much with iMovie, yet. But am looking forward to checking out the new features.

Incredibly Good Software Suite! Great Value! Family Friendly!
I really don’t understand why there are any bad reviews here. iLife 09′ is an incredibly great value. You get so much functionality for such a little price. Yes, maybe the face recognition thing in iPhoto is a little buggy, but that is why companies have rolling updates. Apple constantly listens to their customers, (What a novel idea!), and values their input. The net result is that each version of the software continues to get better and better. I challenge those angry Windows users who habitually post unsubstantiated reviews on Mac Products to show me a Windows based product that took the step to create facial recognition. Windows based products continue to be devoid of any innovation. Why do you think Microsoft continues to try and emulate the Mac OSX and iLife Suite! I highly recommend the iLife 09 software to any individual or family who is looking for an easy to use, easy to learn, non-intimidating product!

Worth the Upgrade
iLife ‘09 adds great features that enhance photo organization in iPhoto. iMovie brings back many features it lost in iMovie ‘08. Garageband also adds some nice features in music lessons.
