A magnificent spectacle more than worth the price of admission, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will blow you away. However, given that so much has gone into protecting the secrets of the book (including armored trucks and injunctions), don’t expect any spoilers in this review. It’s much more fun not knowing what’s coming–and in the case of Rowling’s delicious sixth book, you don’t want to know. Just sit tight, despite the earth-shattering revelations that will have your head in your hands as you hope the words will rearrange themselves into a different story. But take one warning to heart: do not open Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince until you have first found a secluded spot, safe from curious eyes, where you can tuck in for a good long read. Because once you start, you won’t stop until you reach the very last page.

Best Harry Potter Book To Date
If Harry grew up in the last book, here he becomes a man, learning the true impact of the last book’s prophecy, and the importance of love as the antidote to fear.
Incredible!
This is my favorite book of the Harry Potter series, just ahead of the Goblet of Fire. It caught my interest from the very beginning, in the middle of the summer when Harry is at the Dursley’s, which most of the other books did not do. After the first chapter, it was very hard to put down! I even ignored the phone ringing several times while I was reading.
Harry Potter & the Half-Blood Prince Is Awesome!
You ask if I am over 13. Heck, I am over sixty-seven.
What a delightful romp through a very sensitive portrayal of school life, despite the witch- and warlock-craft. I am told that American pubishers have finally stopped translating these volumes into a language that our American schoolchildren can understand, and that’s nice, because a little exposure to something other than our culture won’t damage them permanently. Exposure to failure is also a positive learning experience, as is the death of Dumbledore, if he is in fact dead.
Well and bravely done. I hate to admit it, but my life may be a little emptier without another chapter to read tonight.
Half-Blood Prince is Bittersweet Installment
When Harry Potter first hit the shelves years ago, I ignored it like a lot of adults, figuring it was just a children’s book. When HP and the Sorcerer’s Stone came out in paperback, I decided what the hey, because its popularity was growing at an absurdly rapid speed, and I wanted to see what the fuss was about. Now I’m the one arriving at the bookstore at 7 p.m. so that I can get the newest HP release at midnight. In short, I am completely taken in by this series.
Rowling’s newest HP is the darkest one yet. As expected, there is a lot of growing up and conflicting hormones, which Rowling has portrayed very well. There is a lot of information (like some are complaining about) but it is much needed info and I didn’t find it in the least boring or felt that it slowed the story down. I certainly did not think that this book was filler for the seventh. The information in this book is crucial to the seventh book.
